Video game publishers are reportedly reluctant to nail down release dates for their games in order to avoid possibly clashing with Grand Theft Auto VI, which is due to hit stores in Fall 2025.
Bloomberg sources claim that a number of publishers are holding off for as long as possible to nail down release dates for next fall, as they don’t want to clash GTA VI. Reportedly, publishers want to see if Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated crime epic will make its deadline or end up getting pushed into 2026, as they want to put as much distance between their own projects and GTA VI.

Take-Two has revealed that GTA VI is targeting a Fall 2025 release but has not committed to a more concrete release date beyond that window. Despite this, a former Rockstar developer claimed back in September that the company probably isn’t in a position to know if it can hit the release target window until next summer.
GTA VI is scheduled for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in Fall 2025.
