God of War PS4 marketing suggests release date announcement soon

god of war release date

Sony has kicked off its marketing efforts for God of War on PlayStation 4 in Spain, just in time for the country’s Father’s Day celebrations. With a rumored 2018 release date, it seems rather early to start an advertising campaign, so perhaps Sony is on the verge of revealing exactly when we can get our hands on the instalment in the God of War series, or maybe  it’s just wanted to get those Spanish dads to put their hands in their pockets and preorder in advance.

A billboard has been spotted doing the rounds in Spain featuring a portrait of Kratos and his son, which features the caption (roughly translated), ‘My Dad’s Better Than Yours.’ You can check it out below (via TheWolfHall).

God of War was announced during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, and sees returning anti-hero Kratos mixing it up with Norse mythology alongside his young son. The game has been in development for around three years, although we’re still no closer to finding out a release date, though rumors suggest a March 2018 launch to align with previous God of War release windows. Another rumor suggested that the God of War PS4 release date could be this year.

This latest installment in the multi-million selling action franchise will feature a meaty single-player campaign, although developer Sony Santa Monica Studio has opted to eschew the multiplayer component that was introduced in 2013’s God of War Ascension. In the game, players will learn how to master Kratos’ infamous rage, and from the look of things Santa Monica Studio is expanding the game’s environments, with the E3 stage demo depicting Kratos ‘discovering’ new locations similar to open-world games.

God of War is due to launch exclusively on PS4.
