Sony Santa Monica Studio‘s God of War Ragnarok isn’t even a month old at this point, but TIME Magazine was impressed enough to crown Kratos’ latest adventure as its Best Game of 2022.
The PS4 & PS5 exclusive title fended off some stiff competition from the likes of Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West and, surprisingly, The Quarry, which found itself ahead of FromSoftware’s epic fantasy-RPG in TIME’s list.
God of War Ragnarok was released on November 9, 2022 for PS4 & PS5. Sony confirmed that the game sold 5.1 million copies during its first week alone, smashing franchise records and becoming the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation launch game of all time.
In the UK, the game topped the physical All Format Chart upon release and enjoyed a better launch than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Elden Ring. Sadly, it doesn’t look like Sony has any plans for DLC, according to the game’s director Eric Williams.
