Gran Turismo Sport announced for PS4, beta coming in early 2016

Gran Turismo Sport is heading to PlayStation 4 as the next official chapter in the long-running racing simulator franchise, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has announced.

Speaking during Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference this evening, Yamauchi-san took to the stage to unveil the hotly anticipated project, which aims to change the way in which we play driving games. GT Sport will have two championships running simultaneously throught the year; one sees you representing your country in the nation’s cup, while the other has you supporting your chosen car manufacturer.

In addition, Yamauchi-san also confirmed a partnership with FIA for Gran Turismo Sport, with the planned beta due to kick off in early 2016. The game will also support Sony’s upcoming PlayStation VR headset. No release was given for the final game, although given Gran Turismo’s traditionally lengthy development cycle, we don’t expect to hear anything this side of Christmas.
