Gran Turismo Sport release date set for late 2017

Sony has confirmed that Gran Turismo Sport will launch in Q4 2017, with a listing in OPM UK seemingly outing a mid-November launch for the highly anticipated racing title. Desipte not carrying a traditional number in the title, GT Sport offers a full-fledged career mode and all the bells and whistles associated with the venerable racing franchise, plus a new PSVR-specific mode. Creator Kazunori Yamauchi has boasted that the game’s car models are so detailed that they’ll set a new benchmark that will be continued to be used in the next console generation.

The game has been a long time coming, with Sony originally pencilling GT Sport for release in November 2016. The planned beta for last year was actually cancelled in order to meet the launch window, though the game still ended up being pushed into 2017 regardless. Still, we at least got a taste of the action earlier this year when Sony decided to roll out the open beta.

Gran Turismo has sold over 76 million copies worldwide since its inception on the original PlayStation back in December 1997.
