Microsoft announced over the weekend that Halo: Campaign Evolved is officially coming to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S next year, and according to the series’ community manager, this is just the start: Halo is now on PlayStation going forward.
Speaking at the Halo World Championship, Brain Jarrard, Community Director at Halo Studios, confirmed that this isn’t a one-time deal; Master Chief and pals will be taking up residence on PlayStation systems beyond Campaign Evolved.
It’s a huge deal. It’s a long time coming. We’re just super excited to be able to welcome even more players now into the franchise we love, to fall in love with Halo the same way we all did 24 years ago. As a community guy, I know the Halo community is super excited to welcome in their friends as well. It’s just going to mean more Halo for everyone. It’s really a new era. Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved.

It’s certainly an odd feeling writing about Halo and PlayStation in the same sentence. After all, who would have thought even five years ago – let alone in the glory days of the Xbox 360 – that Halo would ever come to PlayStation? Still, it’s a sign of the times as Microsoft has decided to pivot to multiplatform delivery for its major franchises.
2026 is a big year for the franchise, as Halo celebrates its 25th anniversary; Halo Campaign Evolved looks to celebrate the occasion with a full-blown remake of the single-player campaign, with lush visuals and modern gameplay mechanics. As for the next mainline entry in the series, we’ll just have to wait and see.
