Helldivers 2 Dev Aims To Remain Independent, Looks To Achieve Same Status As From Software Or Blizzard

Johan Pilestedt, who recently announced that he has stepped down from CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios to focus on his role as chief creative officer, has revealed that the Helldivers 2 developer has no interest in being acquired by another company, instead wanting to remain independent.

Speaking with Games Industry.biz, Pilestedt, who has been a major public face Arrowhead Game Studios across the release of Helldivers 2, engaging with fans on social media over the months, revealed “we pride ourself on being an independent studio.”

We have to see what the future holds, but there’s nothing in the plans where we want to be acquired by somebody. I want to see how high we can fly. And bringing [new CEO] Shams [Jorjani] on board, we have a good potential to realise that future of turning into the next From Software or Blizzard.
