Getting Started
There’s quite a few things you’ll need to have prepared to set up PSVR on PC. First, grab a Steam account and access to Steam VR games, plus Trines PSVR, which will set you back $13.99. In regards to the latter, you can grab a free trial although the time you get is underdetermined.
Installing Trinus PSVR On Your PC
- Fire up your web browser and head to www.trinusvirtualreality.com/psvr/ select Download. Be sure to run a virus and malware scan after, as this link takes you to a third-party website.
- Once the download has finished, select Run (you may have to choose ‘Run as Administrator).
- Accept the License Agreement
- Choose Next
- Choose what folder you want to put the file and hit Next
- Select where/if you want a short cut icon on your computer and choose Next
- Hit Install, after which a driver install option will open up. Click Next.
- Choose Finish — you’ve now installed Trinus on your computer!
Setting Up PSVR To Use Trinus PSVR
- First up, connect a HDMI cable into the PS4 HDMI port on the processing unit (see above for an image regarding the overall connection process)
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the PC HDMI port.
- Plug a micro-USB cable into the processing unit.
- Connect the other end of the micro-USB into the USB port on the PC, preferably USB 3.0.
- Connect the PSVR into the processing unit.
- Finally, plug the processing unit power cable into the power outlet.
How To Set Up Trinus PSVR
Before doing the next steps, make sure your PSVR is placed on a flat surface (see above image). If you’ve been following our instructions so far, you will have got the device hooked up to your PC and have downloaded Trinus PSVR and installed. Now, you just need to launch it.
- Right-click on Trinus PSVR in the Start menu or desktop on your PC, and the hit ‘Run as Administrator.
- Hit Install.
- After finding your Steam folder, click the Main tab.
- Choose the dropdown arrow next to the PSVR Display.
- Select DISPLAY1.
- Hit the dropdown menu next to PSVR Mode.
- Choose VR.
- Select Assign Key button next to the Reset View
- Choose a key on your keyboard to assign it and rest your view in PSVR.
- Select the checkbox near Use Mouse Wheel, which will ensure you can adjust the zoom in-game via your mouse wheel.
- Hit Start, which will see Trinus PSVR calibrate the headset.
- Right-click Steam in the stat menu.
- Choose Run as Administrator.
- Choose VR.
- Select Run Room Setup.
- Click Standing Only
- Click Next
- Select Calibrate Centre
- Hit Next.
- Choose the height field option
- Input your height in inches or cm
- Hit Calibrate Floor
- Click Next
- Select Done.
- Input Windows key + Shift + Right arrow on the keyboard to move the headset display over to the PSVR device. You should now be able to see everything through PSVR as if you were using Rift or Vive.
