IGN Summer Of Gaming 2020 Delayed

IGN has announced that it’s Summer of Gaming 2020 events have been postponed from their previous June 4 start date to Tuesday, June 8. In the full statement which can be read below, IGN cited solidarity with the Black community during the current civil strife as a reason for the postponement.

“We stand in solidarity with the Black community and condemn racism.

Out of respect for and in support of those rightfully demanding justice and change across the United States and the world, IGN will be delaying the launch of its Summer of Gaming main events until June 8.

Today, IGN is participating in Blackout Tuesday, a day of reflection, action, and commitment to meaningful change. IGN will be driving donations to support the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, an organization that supports legal action and long-term change, including on our daily live news show NG+.

Our sister company, Humble Bundle, has announced a $1 million fund dedicated to helping publish games by Black developers.

This is a start, but we are committed to driving long-term change. We will have more updates on how we will continue to support the fight for justice. “

IGN’s delay of its Summer of Gaming 2020 events joins CD Projekt RED and Sony, who have have both delayed their respective Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay showcase and PlayStation 5 game slate reveals to stand in solidarity with the Black community during current events.

The Summer of Gaming 2020 showcase is expected to be quite the shindig too, proffering all new title announcements, PlayStation 5 title unveilings, interviews, let’s plays and much, much more. Additionally some big industry hitters will also be presenting their wares during the month long series of events too, including such industry folks as 2K, SEGA, EA, Ubisoft and many, many more.
