Don’t get too excited old-school PlayStation heads. There isn’t a new Killzone game in the works (that we know of) or anything else to do with the franchise coming up.
But it does look like the team at Arrowhead Games will be bringing Killzone back for a crossover in Helldivers 2.
The Righteous Revenants Warbond was leaked by dataminer Iron_S1ghts, (spotted by IGN) though the image they posted is no longer available due to a claim from the copyright holder, which only adds legitimacy to the leak.
In the aforementioned image, there was gas mask with eyes that clearly resembled the orange glow of the eyes on masks worn by Killzone’s Helghast, the group painted as the enemy faction (though to what degree they were actually evil is debatable based on the narrative over the series multiple entries).
Whatever else will be part of this coming warbond still isn’t clear, but it’s good to see Killzone getting some love, especially since Guerilla has moved on from the series, as they’ve had to repeat time and time again.
It’s time for someone else to take up the torch, and if that time ever does come, it’s great that the series will continue to live on in collaborations like this coming one with Helldivers 2. Hopefully it’s not the last time we see a crossover like this for Killzone, and the franchise can get even more love.
