THQ has confirmed that Darksider II will feature a score crafted by the BAFTA award-winning composer Jesper Kyd.
Kyd, who is perhaps best known among gamers for his work on Assassin’s Creed and Hitman, has cobbled together an emotionally-charged soundtrack that “combines dark ethereal themes and melodic fantasy that enrich the player’s cinematic journey.”
Said Kyd: “DARKSIDERS II is an awesome game and one of the most fun and creatively satisfying projects I have scored. I had a blast working with the team at Vigil.”
Vigil Games’ audio director, Jeremy Robins, commented: “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Jesper.”
“He’s an extremely talented composer and an avid gamer, who not only created an amazing soundtrack for DARKSIDERS II, but intuitively knew how to cater each composition to achieve maximum musical impact for players.”
In addition to Kyd’s work on the game, composer Giles Lamb – who has scored a plethora of TV, film and commercials over the years – has composed Darksider II’s ‘campaign creative score.’
“The emotion that Giles brings to the marketing creative with his unique score is unparalleled. He immediately sets an unforgettable tone & theme for how we’re portraying Darksiders II’s protagonist, Death,” said VP of Global Brand Marketing, Jim Huntley.
Darksiders II is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in the U.S. on June 26, and in Europe on June 29. A Wii U version will follow at a later date.
