President and Creative Director of thatgamecompany Jenova Chen and Creative Director of Giant Sparrow Ian Dallas announced that two well-known indie titles will be making their way to the PlayStation 4.
thatgamecompany already has a strong presence on all PlayStation consoles as both flOw and Flower were added to the PS4 library, expanding the reach of these incredible titles past the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Though only available on PS3, The Unfinished Swan made a strong outing on the PS3.
Now, PS4 owners will have access to thatgamecompany’s Journey and Giant Sparrow’s The Unfinished Swan. The PlayStation Blog post doesn’t specifically indicate that both titles will fall into the Cross-Buy benefit–owners of these titles on other consoles will get these titles on the PS4 for free–but thatgamecompany has confirmed that Journey will benefit from Cross-Buy; check out our review of Journey right here.
Giant Sparrow hasn’t made an official statement regarding any Cross-Buy feature for The Unfinished Swan, but the team’s efforts in bringing the game to the next generation means that newcomers to the PlayStation brand will have a chance to jump into what PSU reviewed as "a fairy tale told beautifully through the cooperative effort of the game’s graphics, sound, and intuitive gameplay."
If you still haven’t played Journey or The Unfinished Swan, then this will be the perfect time to jump in and see why they’re both such acclaimed titles.
Official release dates for the PS4 counterpart to these titles is still undetermined.
