PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution is PlayStation’s own AI-upscaling solution for the PS5 Pro and presumably its future hardware, and it’s also a key part of why players checking out Marvel Rivals when it launches on December 6, 2024 will be able to enjoy 4K/60 FPS gameplay on PS5 Pro.
Marvel Rivals is one of the many PS5 Pro Enhanced games, and a new PlayStation Blog ahead of its launch this Friday went into what exactly players will get out of the PS5 Pro Enhanced mode.
Between the PS5 Pro’s bigger and stronger GPU and PSSR, players on PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy Marvel Rivals at 4K/60 FPS on the PS5 Pro mode, while on the High Performance Mode they’ll be able to enjoy 120 FPS gameplay.
Of course base-PS5 Marvel Rivals players can still play the game at 120 FPS, but at lower native resolutions than on PS5 Pro.
“Thanks to the powerful GPU capabilities and the new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, Marvel Rivals introduces a new Pro Mode on the PS5 Pro. This mode targets a stable 60 FPS and deliver higher 4K resolutions.
In addition to Lumen Global Illumination, it also features support Lumen Reflections, offering more immersive and dynamic lighting effects for an enhanced visual experience. PS5 Pro also offers higher resolutions in 120 FPS High Frame Rate Mode.”
The default visual mode on base-PS5 will also run at 60 FPS, but at a native 1440p instead of 4K.
