Unsurprisingly, the first PlayStation Studios game to get VRR support comes from Insomniac, and it’ll be Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, with update 1.007 that just launched today.
On the same day that PlayStation announces that the update to bring VRR to the PS5 will roll out over the course of the week, Insomniac has released its patch that was clearly ready to go with this announcement.
A patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is likely to follow sometime this week, perhaps even later today.
You can see the full patch notes here, which outline fixes for ray-tracing and the 120Hz display mode, and of course, VRR support.
- 120 Hz Display Mode (together with system settings)
- Reduces input latency
- Increases frame rate target of Fidelity graphics mode to 40 fps
- Support for VRR via system settings
- When 120 Hz Display Mode is off, slightly increases dynamic resolution targets
- When 120 Hz Display Mode is on, the frame rate is unlocked and varies based on gameplay
- Improvements to ray-traced reflection quality at glancing angles in low-dynamic-resolution scenarios
