Insomniac Games has released a Marvel’s Wolverine a detailed gameplay trailer during Sony’s latest State of Play event, offering the most detailed look at the game to date ahead of its highly anticipated September 2026 launch.

Marvel’s Wolverine is the next title from Insomniac Games following its huge success with Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The studio originally announced Marvel’s Wolverine in late 2021, and which point Brian Horton was its creative director; however, he departed in 2024 to work on the (now cancelled) Perfect Dark reboot at The Initiative.
The game serves as a standalone entry based on the popular anti-hero, telling a self-contained story but shares continuity with the other Marvel games from Insomniac. Players control James ‘Logan’ Howlett, aka Wolverine (played by Liam McIntyre), a mutant with regenerative healing powers and retractable claws that embarks a globe-trotting journey as he brushers shoulders with other iconic characters such as Mystique, Omega Red, and the Sentinels.
Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15 for PS5.
