Marvel’s Wolverine Story Lead Has Left Insomniac For CD Projekt RED’s Boston Team

The former co-lead for story development on Marvel’s Wolverine and associate narrative designer at Insomniac Games has left the Sony studio for CD Projekt RED and it’s Boston team which is currently focusing on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Mary Kenney has been writing games in an official capacity since 2017, beginning with Telltale and it’s final season of The Walking Dead after a short stint at Kotaku. From there she freelanced for the better part of a year before joining Insomniac.

In her 5 year stay there she worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as a writer and just before this latest move she was co-leading development on the story for Marvel’s Wolverine.

“Without further ado, it’s time to announce my new job! Today was my first day as a senior writer at CD Projekt Red,” Kenney posted on LinkedIn.

“I can’t wait to talk more about my project, I’m thrilled to be getting back into RPGs, and my team is talented, welcoming, and just flat-out cool. Here’s to a new adventure.”

While Kenney doesn’t specify what project she’ll be working on, her LinkedIn profile does specify that she’s at the Boston branch for CDPR, which likely means she’s working on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, since that is the current focus for the Boston team.

Whatever the case, Kenney has played a significant role in developing stories for PlayStation players that have been some of the best games we’ve seen out of PlayStation Studios over the last few years.

She’ll definitely be missed on the PlayStation side of the aisle, but it’s exciting to know she’ll be plying her craft to CD Projekt RED’s coming games.
