BioWare has posted a new job listing for a Senior Gameplay Designer for the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda, suggesting the studio is aiming to raise the bar when it comes to industry standard shooting mechanics.
The job description reads, “Our Mass Effect team is looking to add another team player to the design department for the next Mass Effect title. Mass Effect 3 was the highest rated game of 2012, garnering 17 perfect critical review scores and Mass Effect 2 was one of the highest rated RPG’s of all time. This role would focus on establishing and executing on the gold standard for shooting mechanics, AI, camera, physics and other aspects related to combat, control and camera.”
Mass Effect Andromeda is due out on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. The game takes place in a separate universe to the original trilogy featuring Commander Shepard, though much of the game’s plot remains under wraps.
However, BioWare has confirmed that the Mako will return, having been absent since the first Mass Effect in 2007. It has also been hinted that Andromeda will include dynamic weather effects. Hopefully we’ll hear more from the game at E3 in June.
