Mass Effect Andromeda frame rate is the same on PS4 Pro and PS4

BioWare has announced that Mass Effect Andromeda will run at 30fps on both the PlayStation 4 Pro and regular PlayStation 4.

Game producer Fabrice Condominas confirmed the news during a chat with GameSpot (via VG247) following the PlayStation Meeting on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, this squashes any hopes that the PS4 Pro version of the game would pump out a higher frame rate than the regular edition.

Mass Effect Andromeda was showcased during Sony’s New York-based event running on PS4 Pro, offering our first glimpse at the hotly anticipated science-fiction RPG in action. The footage was made especially for the PS Meeting, hence it eschewed some traditional Mass Effect gubbins such as dialogue choices.

Mass Effect Andromeda release date set for early next year

The game’s publisher, Electronic Arts, confirmed earlier this year that Mass Effect Andromeda will ship in early 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game takes place in an entirely new setting to that of the original trilogy, and features a brand new storyline far moved from that of Commander Shepard’s exploits.

Sony announced that PS4 Pro will ship on November 10, 2016 priced at $399/£349. The console affords improved visual fidelity and smoother frame rates for titles, while a HDR update will be released to patch in improvements to existing titles such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Last of Us Remastered.

Sony has been quick to note that PS4 Pro does not signal the start of a new console generation, nor is it designed to blur the lines between cycles. The system itself is roughly twice as powerful as the regular edition of the console.
