Sony Pictures has confirmed it will be helming a movie adaptation of Konami’s multi-million selling video game franchise, Metal Gear Solid.
According to a report on Deadline, the studio has successfully negotiated a deal with Jay Basu to pen the script for the stealth-action romp.
Metal Gear Solid will be produced by Avi and Ari Arad, with The Kings of Summer’s Jordan Vogt-Robert attached to direct the project.
Not much else is known at this point, although it is presumed the movie will be based on 1998’s PSOne outing in the series, which sees Solid Snake (voiced by David Hayter) infiltrating Shadow Moses Island to thwart a nuclear strike.
Rumors of a Metal Gear Solid film have been doing the rounds for years now, although this is the first time the project has actually gathered steam. Regardless, the film is a long way off, so don’t expect much more info just yet.
