Monster Hunter World is the latest entry in Capcom’s multi-million selling action-RPG series, and is due for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018. A PC version will follow at a later date.

Powered by Capcom’s MT Framework engine, Monster Hunter World will feature larger game maps to explore, with seamless transition between areas. In addition, it’ll also offer four-player co-op and allow gamers from all over the world to team up, which is a first for the franchise.

Monster Hunter World will receive a Japanese-exclusive PS4 Pro console, which will be available in limited quantities. In addition, Capcom also confirmed that the game will receive free post-launch content.

The Monster Hunter franchise has remained synonymous with the PlayStation brand since its debut on PS2 back in 2004. The sequel and its various expansions arrived on the PSP in both Japan and the west, although beginning with Monster Hunter Tri the series made the transition to other formats, including the Wii and 3DS.

Capcom announced that the Monster Hunter series has sold over 40 million copies worldwide as of June 2017, and is currently the publisher’s third highest-selling franchise behind Street Fighter and Resident Evil.
