NetherRealm Studios has unleashed a punchy new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer, only this time it’s a live-action affair starring Guardians of the Galaxy actor and former wrestler, Dave Bautista. It’s also a bit of a nostalgia trip for long-time fans, as the trailer recalls the 1993 TV commercial for the original Mortal Kombat console release.
Check it out below.
Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series, commented:
The original Mortal Monday commercial earmarked the beginning of our journey into making games for home gaming systems. It’s amazing to pay homage to such a memorable moment in Mortal Kombat history as we get ready to launch our newest game, Mortal Kombat 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to ship on September 19, 2023 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. One of the new features for the game is Invasion Mode, which takes the form of a single-player board game-style RPG where players battle opposing factions and hoover up loot along the way.
