NetherRealm Studios has lifted the wraps off a limb-ripping Mortal Kombat 1 launch trailer for you to feast your eyes on, combining plenty of blood-drenched combat and story-focussed cutscenes to tuck into.
Mortal Kombat 1 is roundhouse-kicking its way onto PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, 2023. The game is the follow-up to 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11, and takes place in a brand new reality constructed by the Fire God Liu Kang. Here, players will find familiar characters presented with fresh backstories and motives; for example, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are now brothers.
As previously confirmed, Johnny Cage will feature a special skin based on actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, while Megan Fox will be portraying Nitara. NetherRealm Studios previously described Mortal Kombat 1 as a ‘narrative springboard’ for the franchise, although right now it’s still too early to tell where it’ll go next.
