Ed Boon has revealed on Twitter that the Mortal Kombat 1 story mode will last roughly as long as the campaigns of Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11, which were around five-six hours in length.
The Mortal Kombat co-created was asked on Twitter by a fan how long we can expect to spend on the game’s story mode, to which Boon simply responded, “similar to MKX-11.”
Mortal Kombat 1 is another reboot for the series and takes place in a brand new universe created by Fire God Liu Kang, with familiar characters given brand new stories and relationships. For example, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are now brothers, rather than leading opposing clans and becoming sworn enemies.
The latest entry in the fighting game series also introduces Kameo Fighters, which are familiar characters that can assist players in battle. NetherRealm Studios recently confirmed that Cyrax, Frost and Sektor will be joining the ranks of the Kameo Fighters roster, joining the likes of classic Sonya and Kano.
Finally, Mortal Kombat 1 will also feature a number of guest fighters including Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander. J.K. Simmons has been confirmed to reprise his role as Omni-Man from the Amazon Prime animated series Invincible.
