The executive producer for Mortal Kombat X has confirmed that the beat-’em-up’s multiplayer component will be region-locked.
Shaun Himmerick confirmed the news on Twitter (via HG) in response to a fan question on the subject:
2011’s Mortal Kombat attracted scathing criticism over its online component, which apart from being region-locked also, was plagued by numerous lag and matchmaking issues.
With MKX’s multiplayer now confirmed as region-locked, it essentially means you will only be able to play against fellow gamers in your own country, as opposed to getting into punch-ups with MKX fans around the world.
Mortal Kombat X is due out on PS4 and Xbox One in April. Check out the latest footage of the game here and see what you get in the Kombat Pack while you’re at it.
