In addition, the Japanese software giant also confirmed that its next Active Time Report will take place on January 30. During this event, Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata and Akio Ofuji will unveil new footage of Final Fantasy XV as well as go over some of the latest updates during development.

The event will be available to view on YouTube and kicks off at 8.00pm PST.

Of course, this isn’t the only upcoming event for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One JRPG. In March, Square Enix will be announcing the game’s release date, and has said that gamers will also get another glimpse at the title in action.

Final Fantasy XV started out life as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which was announced at E3 2006. However, when that project was roughly 25 percent around mid-2012, Square Enix decided to revamp the game for the PS4 and Xbox One, re-revealing the game as Final Fantasy XV at E3 2013.

While the basic concept and some of the characters from Versus XIII remain in tact, much of the game has been changed. For example, Stella is no longer featured in FFXV, and has been replaced by another character. Square Enix has said that it may offer free airship DLC post-launch, and that the game’s storytelling has been influenced in part by Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us.

Final Fantasy XV is scheduled to ship for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
