New Medal of Honor: Warfighter details

The chaps at OXM U.S. have got hold of the first concrete details on Electronic Arts’ upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter following its announcement last week.

According to the publication (via CVG), the sequel to 2010’s series reboot will again focus on real-life elite soldiers, the Tier 1 Operators, with developer Danger Close aiming for “authenticity” as opposed to outright “simulation.”

As previously mentioned the game will be powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine, and as a result Warfighter’s visuals have received an extensive overhaul in comparison to its predecessor. OXM notes that environments will feature extensive detail such as swaying chandeliers, splintering support beams and gunfire that sends paper flying from desks.

Returning characters include Preacher, Voodoo, Mother and more, and you’ll be visiting locations such as a flooded Isabela City in the Philippines.

The in-house multiplayer effort meanwhile will feature Tier 1 Operator forces including the SAS (British), SASR (Australian), KSK (German) and Grom (Polish).

Also on the cards is a one-shot-kill “hardcore” mode, as well as co-op support, though OXM notes it is unlikely full campaign co-op will be present.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is due out in October 2012. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details as we get them.
