New PS5 System Update Beta Will Preview Ability To Pair DualSense Controllers Across Multiple Devices Simultaneously

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the new PS5 system update beta will see users previewing a new feature allowing DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers to be paired across multiple devices simultaneously.

Up until now, Sony has required that users must pair a DualSense controller each time you connected it to a different device, including PC, Mac, and mobile devices. That’s set to change, as you can register up to four devices at once and switch between them seamlessly from your controller. The console manufacturer also confirmed how to go about paring multiple devices, which we’ve included below:

  1. Make sure the light bar and player indicator on your controller is off. If they’re turned on, press and hold the PS button until they turn off.
  2. Press and hold one of the action buttons (triangle, circle, cross, or square) and the PS button for over 5 seconds. The light bar and player indicator flash two times.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth® on your device, and select the option to add Bluetooth® devices. Your device detects nearby Bluetooth® devices.
  4. Select your controller from the detected devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

With this update, you may notice a new option in your settings menu called Power Saver. While this feature won’t be available during the beta phase, once it officially launches, supported PS5 games will scale back performance**** and will allow your PS5 to reduce its power consumption when the feature is enabled optionally by gamers. If not enabled, or if games do not support the feature, the performance will not be scaled back and power consumption will not be reduced.

Invites for the new PS5 system update beta are getting sent off today, so check your emails and you might be lucky!
