The PS5 was released in November 2020 and has sold over 50 million units worldwide, although the first 18 months or so the system was plagued by stock shortages due to problems brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Sony released a new version of the console last November in the form of the PS5 ‘slim,’ which has slowly replaced the original version of the system.

Looking ahead, Sony is heavily rumoured to be working on a mid-cycle refresh, the PS5 Pro, which is set to launch in November 2024 and is known internally as Project Trinity. The PS5 Pro specs have recently leaked on the web, which has prompted an investigation by Sony.
