Abandoned has had quite the tumultuous and mysterious journey, at least for some. Many players were quick to point to Blue Box Games’ history, in that it is a studio which has consistently failed to produce any real title.
Now, it seems those who looked to the studio’s history for insight into how Abandoned would go, were right to do so.
A new report from website GameSpot has detailed how Hasan Kahraman has seemingly lied and misled fans through secret chatrooms, and that there is still nothing to really suggest the game even exists.
The report details how following Abandoned’s reveal, Silent Hill rumours began to go rampant, Kahrahman hand-picked a select few fans to join secret groups through which Kahrahman would share updates on the game’s progress and images.
Kahrahman would work through multiple iterations of these kinds of groups, and reportedly even asked some members to sign NDAs. GameSpot also reported that the one common denominator between these groups, is that they’ve all been “toxic.”
What’s perhaps unsurprising for many to learn is that according to the sources in the report, Abandoned is currently not in development, but the prologue still is.
Those same sources also don’t see how much progress could be made at all, since it seems like Kahrahman is rarely on the project, and more often chatting in the group or playing Rainbow Six Siege with some members.
It seems that whatever Abandoned was, we’ll never know, as it looks more and more likely this game will not see any kind of release.
