Fresh details on Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 7: biohazard have trickled online via Twitter user Alex Aniel, who recently attended the Ambassador Meeting in Japan for the survival horror sequel.
Resident Evil 7 PS4 Pro is looking fantastic
While Aniel couldn’t give away any specific details on what he saw, he did confirm that he was able to play a brand new Resident Evil 7 demo beyond what we’ve already seen with Beginning Hour and the Lantern teaser. This particular hands-on included combat, and Aniel believes that fans of both classic and post-RE4 Resident Evil will find something to enjoy here.
Most interesting, however, is his mention of the PlayStation 4 Pro version of Resident Evil 7, which he says looks ‘amazing’ in terms of sheer detail. He also confirmed the footage shown was running in 4K, and that Capcom confirmed the game is around 90 percent complete; encouraging news considering the horror title is due for release in January 2017.
Resident Evil 7 was announced during Sony’s E3 2016 conference, where the company confirmed the title will be fully compatible with PlayStation VR from start to finish. Unlike previous entries in the venerated horror franchise, Resi 7 will take place from a first-person perspective, and introduces a brand new protagonist in the shape of Ethan.

The game is set an undisclosed amount of time after the events of Resident Evil 6, and takes place on a seemingly abandoned plantation mansion in Louisiana, U.S. Here, Ethan must explore the area while searching for his missing wife, although he’ll also have to contend with the malevolent and apparently cannibalistic Baker family.
Capcom has set a Resident Evil 7 release date of January 24, 2017 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Read our impressions of the game in PSVR here.
