Kung-Fu Romp Sifu Receives New Details, Dev Aiming For ‘Jackie Chan Movie Fantasy’

Fresh details on SloClap‘s upcoming Kung-Fu brawler Sifu have emerged via an interview with the game’s executive producer, Pierre Tarno, with PCGamer.

One of the key aspects that Tarno revealed is that Sifu will be entirely single-player and will take the form of a linear adventure game. So, if you’re a fan of old-school romps that don’t venture off the beaten path (and there’s nothing wrong with that), then this should be right up your street.

Unsurprisingly, Sifu has been inspired by martial arts moves, and Jackie Chan’s name came up when Tarno spoke about the type of ‘fantasy’ they want with the project.

The fantasy we want is that sort of Jackie Chan movie fantasy where it’s one versus many.

Elsewhere, it’s been revealed that your character can actually come back to life if they die, but with a difference — they age more each time. Tarno also revealed that “mistakes have a cost,” indicating that, like Absolver, the likes of Dark Souls has had something of an inspiration on Sifu.
