New Splinter Cell Game Reportedly Could Feature ‘Hitman-Like Elements’

Ubisoft’s next instalment in the Splinter Cell franchise, which has reportedly just been greenlit by the publisher, make take influence from the recent batch of Hitman games.

That’s according to GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who claims that the following happened just prior to E3 2021:

Ubisoft had fans play the upcoming Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time Remake and something that had the appearance of a new Splinter Cell prototype.

The testers did not spend a lot of time with the possible Splinter Cell game. Ubisoft provided a vertical slice that was just a basic tutorial section. But this version of the game combined familiar Splinter Cell action with elements of the 2016 Hitman reboot.

Right now there’s no confirmation that this is the same project that Ubisoft is allegedly working on, but it definitely sounds like Splinter Cell is looking to make a comeback.

It’s been years since we last saw Sam Fisher in action in a proper console instalment, having last appeared in Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013.
