Available as part of the £15.99/$19.99 Season Pass, or as a standalone purchase, the Lair of the Lost Lord introduces a brand-new area, an update to the game’s battle system, and a raft of bonus character quests.
An In-Depth Look at Ni no Kuni II the Lair of the Lost Lord DLC
The new area in question is The Labyrinth – a mysterious dungeon filled to bursting with terrifying enemies, including the nefarious Prince of Wraiths. Unfortunately for the game’s colourful cast of heroes, they will have to journey into the very bowels of this perilous maze if they’re to save the Evermore Kingdom from destruction.
Additionally, as promised in the earlier reveal post, Ni no Kuni II’s battle system will be getting an upgrade as part of the DLC.
The latest addition to the battle system, players will get access to two Martial Methods. Gizmo Supremo, which provides access to hi-tech gadgets [that can] turn the tide of battle and Ding Dong Discipline, a combat method inherited by the kingdom’s finest warriors.
The Lair of the Lost Lord also adds over 80 new items of equipment and, most interestingly of all, a handful of quests that delve ever deeper into the backstories of some of the game’s main characters.
Finally, developer Level-5 plans to release a free update alongside the Lair of the Lost Lord DLC.
Designed, primarily, to fix a number of minor outstanding issues with the base game, the update will also see the max level cap increased to 120 for party members. Lovely stuff.
