Yosuke Saito, the producer behind the Nier franchise, has assured fans that the series will remain active as long as its creative director, Yoko Taro, is alive.
Speaking during a presentation at the G-STAR 2023 event in South Korea over the weekend, the duo discussed a variety of topics, including the future of the Nier series. During the talk, Saito-san said that the franchise will continue as long as Taro-san is alive, although he did say that there were circumstances that prevented the team from bringing out a new game soon.
Reportedly, he concluded the presentation by saying that he and Taro were working on a separate project not related to the Nier series, which he is eager to talk more about in 2024.
The Nier series launched for PS3 and Xbox 360 in April 2010, with a full sequel developed by Platinum Games launching or PS4 and PC in 2017 and Xbox One the following year. Furthermore, a remaster of the original Nier arrived in April 2021 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
