Stephen Kick, the CEO of Nightdive Studios, has revealed that he would like to see a re-release of the GameCube survival horror classic, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.
Speaking with ShackNews, Kick noted that Eternal Darkness has been locked to the GameCube since its release, which was way back in 2002. To be fair, I couldn’t think of a game more deserving of a remaster than Silicon Knights’ horror classic.
[Eternal Darkness] has been kind of locked behind the GameCube/Nintendo wall all this time, and it’s something I would personally love to see get re-released.

While nothing official regarding an Eternal Darkness remaster has been announced, Denis Dyack, the ex-boss of Silicon Knights, revealed that he believes a remaster of the game would do well in today’s market.
Eternal Darkness is a third-person survival horror romp that opens as Alexandra Roiva investigates the mysterious death of her uncle on Rhode Island. After exploring the now-deserted mansion, she uncovers the family has been involved in a centuries-long war against an entity known as the Darkness. Players step into the shoes of numerous characters dating back to the ancient roman times using the Tome of Eternal Darkness, granting them magical powers.
By far the most memorable aspect of Eternal Darkness is its sanity effects, where encounters with enemies drains your character’s sanity meter, resulting in numerous hallucinations and strange occurrences, some of which break the fourth wall.
Back in 2013, developer Precursor Games took to Kickstarter to fund a spiritual successor to the game in the form Shadow of the Eternals, although the project ultimately failed to reach its funding goals. The gam would have expanded on the sanity mechanic seen in the original Eternal Darkness.
