No Man’s Sky Engine Programmer Heaps Praise On PS5 Pro, Saying Sony’s New System ‘Absolutely Rocks’

The PS5 Pro has set tongues wagging in the development world, with Martin Griffiths, who serves at No Man’s Sky studio Hello Games as engine programmer, heaping praise on the high-end console, declaring it “absolutely rocks.”

Sony announced the pricey new machine during a dedicated video last month hosted by Mark Cerny, and while there’s obviously been some controversy due to its high price point, a lot of folk are equally excited about what PS5 Pro is capable of from a developer’s perspective.

Writing on X, Griffiths provided a screenshot of No Man’s Sky to illustrate his mood, and while he wouldn’t go into detail about any possible enhancements PS5 Pro may bring to the space exploration title, it’s clear he’s a very excited about the console.

This beautifully staged screenshot is a fair summary of how I feel tonight. Many of you have noticed that #NoMansSky is now marked as a #PS5Pro enhanced title on the PlayStation store – the only thing I’d like to say as an engine programmer who has been through all the PS iterations since PS1, is that this console absolutely rocks.

The PS5 Pro is pencilled in for a November 7, 2024 release in major markets, and is currently available to preorder via PlayStation Direct (Sony initially sold out of preorder but has been restocking over the past few days). Retailers will be going live with their own preorders later this month, so keep an eye out.
