TrueTrophies has reported that the No Man’s Sky Worlds Part 1 update has resulted in a nearly 500% increase in players on PS5.
The latest update for Hello Games’ space exploration title features a huge number of improvements to key areas, including overhauling various visual effects such as water and lighting, as well as implementing new creatures and plenty of new sights on its vast array of explorable worlds.

From the look of things, the update seems to be pulling in the punters, as the PS5 player count has spiked by a whopping 493% following Worlds Part 1’s release. TrueTrophies tracks the weekly player figures for PS4 and PS5 games using a gameplay data sample of 3.1 million PSN accounts, and in No Man’s Sky’s case, it has jumped from the 194th most-played PS5 game to 40th place.
No Man’s Sky launched for PC and PS4 in Summer 2016 and despite a rough start has grown considerably thanks to huge post-launch support from Hello Games, which includes many quality-of-life improvements and expansions. The game also made the jump to Xbox and Nintendo Switch formats, with PS5 and PSVR 2 later being made available.
