No PlayStation Plus subscription needed for Battlefield 1 beta, enjoy it for free

The Battlefield 1 beta has kicked off today if you were one of the lucky ones to receive an early-access code!

For the rest of us mere mortals, you’ll have to wait until it’s official launch tomorrow, August 31.

What’s interesting is that you usually have to be a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online games on PS4, but it seems that an exception has been made for Battlefield 1’s beta.

Regardless of whether you’re signed up to PlayStation Plus or not, you can play Battlefield 1. Xbox One owners aren’t so lucky. They’ll still need a subscription to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service to play.

Xbox One players shouldn’t be too disgruntled though. The fact that EA has aligned with Microsoft for a marketing deal surrounding Battlefield 1 will likely mean they’ll get access to all sort of stuff on its release on October 21, 2016.

Jump into the Battlefield 1 beta this week, and you’ll get to play two game modes, Conquest and Rush. There’s just one map to play, but Sinai Desert is a big one, catering for 64-player mayhem!

For now…enjoy the freebie while you can you crazy non PlayStation Plus subscribers!
