Capcom has lifted the lid on a stylish and bloody new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword during Sony’s State Of Play event this evening, offering a look at protagonist Miyamoto Musashi.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword was announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S during The Game Awards 2024, and is the first proper entry in the franchise for over nearly two decades. The game is currently pencilled in for release in 2026, and you can read more about the game in the press blurb below:
Featuring epic sword fights, a lone samurai wields a sharpened blade and the Oni Gauntlet. Amidst the rush of battle and a deluge of blood, he ponders on his reason for fighting. Set in Kyoto in the early Edo period, the historic city has been transformed by the nefarious Malice with monstrous enemies known as “Genma” stalking the area around.
The protagonist of this game is a fierce young samurai, constantly moving from one bloody and mucky fight to the next. In order to cement this image of a striking samurai, Capcom has turned to none other than the late, iconic Japanese samurai movie star Toshiro Mifune to serve as the face model for this rendition of Miyamoto Musashi.
