According to a report from Insider Gaming, a website that from time to time leaks correct information early, new Panzer Dragoon, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sakura Taisen games are in development at SEGA.
Though Insider Gaming has been right before, this is otherwise unconfirmed, and should still be taken with a certain level of salt.
Still, it’s exciting to think about that the fact that there are more classic SEGA titles making a return. The reveal of five new entries in just a handful of their most classic franchises at The Game Awards stunned fans.
The report also claims that a total of 10 new games in classic franchises were given the green light in recent years, so if these are the next three, there’s still two unknown.
That SEGA is digging into the vault like this feels like it’s paying some huge fan service. It’s exciting not only to see these classics return, but be given a chance at garnering a new audience, potentially continuing things even further.
Of course there’s always the risk that the new entry could sour the name of an otherwise beloved franchise, but that’s the double-edge sword with nostalgia plays in entertainment.
