Platinum Games chief Atsushi Inaba has revealed that he hasn’t been surprised by anything the PS5 and Xbox Series X has to offer yet, labelling the technology a ‘perceivable future.’

Speaking with Video Game Chronicle, Inala-San acknowledged that it’s good for developers to have access to new technology, but doesn’t seem to have been overly impressed with what he’s seen so far. This isn’t the first time that Inaba has talked about next-gen consoles either, so his comments may not come as a surprise.
I feel that the announcements that we’ve had for recent consoles generations, while all good and interesting, and of course I’m happy for us as developers to have better technology to work on… it’s a ‘perceivable’ future.
There’s not the extreme surprise or the unexpected quality that I felt from the leap to previous consoles. Now I see the announcements and I think, ‘oh, that’s cool’ and then the next minute I think, ‘hmmm… what should I watch on Netflix tonight?’
Inaba was then asked if he’s seen the Unreal Engine 5 PS5 tech demo, he confirmed he has, and was pretty impressed (but not blown away) by it.
