The PlayStation Awards 2018 will be held on Monday the 3rd December at 17:00 JST, Sony Japan has confirmed.
There are a number of prizes up for grabs at the event; which has been held every year since the original PlayStation released in Japan way back in 1994 (I was five – yikes). These include the:
- Platinum Award – Recognising those titles that have shipped over 1,000,000 units over the past year
- Gold Award – Recognising those titles that have shipped over 500,000 units over the past year
- Network Award – recognising the three titles that have sold best on PSN over the past 12-months
- Indie and Developer Award – recognising the three titles that have done the most to expand the PlayStation brand over the same time period
- And the PSVR Award – recognising the three best-selling PSVR titles in 2018

Finally, there’s the User’s Choice Award; recognising, as the name suggests, the top ten titles in Japan and Asia this year as voted for by the players themselves.
You can cast your vote here (so long as your PSN account is registered in Japan), if you’re interested/would like the chance to win one of the 31 exciting prizes (including two jet black, 1TB PS4 Pros) offered to a handful of lucky voters.
Voting is open between now and the 8th October.
Watching this year’s event, meanwhile, is as simple as heading over to the official PlayStation Japan website when the action kicks off.
It’s well worth watching, in our opinion, even if we in the West have no say on the outcome. For that reason, we’ll be updating this article as soon as all the winners from the PlayStation Awards 2018 are announced.
