The founders of Genshin Impact developer miHoYo were reportedly targeted in an assassination attempted, with Chinese authorities having arrested the individual behind the plot.
According to reports online, the man was armed with a knife and was able to gain access to miHoYo’s headquarters on April 24 before caught by police before anyone was harmed. The individual was apparently upset over the changes that miHoYo recently made to one of its titles, Honkai Impact 3rd.
One of the game’s recent updates included bunny costumes, but they were not available in China, with fans arguing that the cosmetic items were disrespectful to the country, resulting it it being removed. What isn’t clear is if the the would-be assassin was upset that the items were being added or that they were ultimately pulled from the game.
