Ubisoft Toronto, one of the studios behind the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, has revealed that it has laid off 33 of its employees.

Ubisoft Toronto has decided to conduct a targeted realignment to ensure it can deliver on its ambitious roadmap. Unfortunately, this will impact the roles of 33 team members who will be leaving Ubisoft. We are committed to providing comprehensive support to them, including severance and career assistance, to help through this transition.

Ubisoft Toronto revealed early last month that it had joined the team for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, and soon after the game was confirmed for a 2026 release during Ubisoft Forward. The project was announced a few years ago but went quiet for some time, although back in November Ubisoft revealed that the game had reached an ‘important internal milestone.‘
