Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), has announced that PlayStation 4’s recording functionality doesn’t require a subscription to PlayStation Plus.
Yoshida-san confirmed the news on Twitter during a discussion with fellow PlayStation gamers, as spotted by Game Informer.
So, while PS Plus will now be required to game online with PS4, you won’t have to fork out cash in order to stream or record your gaming sessions.
The comments come following the revelation that Xbox One users will have to sign up for Xbox LIVE Gold in order to take advantage of the next-generation console’s DVR features.
PS4 was announced during a special event in New York City in February, with Sony later showcasing the hardware for the first time at E3 in June. Here, the console maker announced the system will launch this holiday season for $399/£349, undercutting its leading rival by $100/£80.
Sony’s next-generation rig will launch with an array of first and third-party titles, including Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and DriveClub.
