Sony’s new PlayStation Vita PCH-2000, colloquially named the PS Vita Slim, can be powered by any regular smartphone micro-USB charger.
That’s according to Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), who confirmed the news on Twitter (via DualShockers). Interestingly, the PS Vita’s own manual doesn’t mention this fact.
“You’ll be happy you’re using a PS Vita 2000, because it can be charged with any Micro USB smartphone battery charger,” he said.
The new PS Vita weighs in 15 per cent lighter and 20 per cent thinner than its predecessor, and features an LCD display instead of the original’s OLED screen. Sony launched the device in Japan on October 10 in six colours, though there is no news yet in regards to a western launch.
