PS Vita Firmware update 3.50 will begin unlocking up to 30 percent more memory for developers to utilize for the handheld, Sony has announced.
In layman’s terms, this means that less system resources are being saved for overhead, with PS Vita titles able to make use of a larger pool of memory to work with.
However, from a consumers’ point of view, it doesn’t really mean all that much until games start appearing that actually take advantage of the extra 30 percent of RAM.
Sony removed some of PS Vita’s long-standing features in 3.50’s March release, including Maps and Near. YouTube support has also been given the snip.
One of PS Vita’s biggest upcoming releases, Resident Evil: Revelations 2, will be released in summer 2015.
