PS3 box art redesigned by Sony

Sony has officially tweaked the PlayStation 3 game box once again. IGN reports that the blue tint which accompanies the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita titles will replace the black outline of the current PS3 game box art.

As seen in the picture above of upcoming title Deception IV: Blood Ties, which is set to release on PS3 and PS Vita in North America on March 25, 2014 and Europe on March 28, 2014 the new art is in line with the PS4 and PS Vita boxes.

This is not the first time Sony has changed the box art of their titles. At the launch of the PS3 the box arts featured what is now known as the "Spider-Man" movie font, but this changed with the announcement of the PlayStation Slim in 2009, seeing the font changed to what is now universal between the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

Does this change make a difference so late in the PS3 life cycle? Is it even necessary? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
