Quantic Dream has revealed that Beyond: Two Souls’ budget clocks in at a cool $27 million — approximately $5 million more than its predecessor, Heavy Rain.
Given the fact the 2010 PlayStation 3-exclusive has often been referred to as an interactive movie, it is perhaps unsurprising that Quantic Dream talks about Heavy Rain’s success in film terminology.
Rather than mentioning ‘units sold,’ it instead cited dollars grossed and dollars spent in regards to the game’s retail performance. Heavy Rain went on to generate $100 million globally, selling over three million copies.
Beyond: Two Souls launches on PS3 in October. The game follows the story of Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page) throughout 15 years of her life, as she attempts to uncover the nature behind Aiden, a mysterious entity that has remained at her side for most of her life. The game also stars Willem Dafoe as government scientist Nathan Dawkins.
