Sony has announced that the first post-launch update for the PlayStation 4 will be available for download "later today."
Officially labeled as firmware 1.51, this update brings system stability, as is the case in most software updates for PlayStation products, but it also includes a UI management tweak. After 1.51 is installed, multiple downloads for the same game will be indicated in a way that differentiates them more appropriately, such as the difference between an add-on and a simple game update. More UI changes are coming with the update, but the addition of different downloading labels was the only specific change that Sony listed on the PlayStation Blog.
PlayStation Plus users will benefit from idling their PS4 consoles in Standby Mode, because all firmware updates automatically download and install during this mode.
